Our Analytical Nutrition Laboratory in Brisbane specialises in aquaculture nutrition whilst also providing analytical services for agricultural, marine, and environmental research.

Painting Contractor Certification Program

The PCCP was started in 1992 as a joint initiative between the Commonwealth (as a major owner of assets and infrastructure) and industry.

Mask Testing Facility

We've opened Australia’s first accredited single-use surgical face mask testing facility. The facility enables manufacturers to test their products to Australian and international standards in Australia and supply healthcare workers with this vital piece of protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic, and beyond.

Analytical water testing

We provide specialised analytical water testing of estuarine, coastal and oceanic waters in support of environmental monitoring projects as well as diverse scientific research.

COVID-19 face masks

We're testing the performance of advanced materials produced by local manufacturers to boost the supply of medical equipment needed in Australia's fight against COVID-19.

Analytical chemistry group

The Analytical Chemistry Group (ACG), based in Canberra, ACT, provides analyses on selected chemical constituents of soil, plant and water to CSIRO and external clients such as government agencies, universities and the private sector.

Smoke alarms

We test smoke alarms to ensure they meet Australian Standards.

Mineralogical services

We have expertise in the identification and characterisation of minerals in soils, clays and weathered rocks in Australian landscapes, novel methods of mineral synthesis, and quantitative techniques of mineralogical analysis using X-ray diffraction.

National Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning Performance Test Facility

We provide test services for air conditioners and heat pumps in Newcastle NSW. The facility utilises two temperature controlled rooms to provide a simultaneous indoor and outdoor test environment.

Analytical services unit

The Analytical Services Unit (ASU) in CSIRO Land and Water is based in Adelaide, South Australia and has been providing analytical services for over thirty years. It provides an extensive range of chemical analyses on plant, soil and water samples for inorganic nutrients, trace elements and heavy metals.

Verification and certification services

We provide an independent certification process for the materials and infrastructure industries. We operate approval and certification schemes for paints and coating products, painting contractors, fire detection and suppression systems and self-drilling fasteners.

Fire testing services

We carry out testing certification and standardisation of reaction to fire and fire resistance of product and building. We also provide independent and objective fire safety engineering expertise and evaluation.

Animal import and export testing

We offer a testing service for animal owners to certify their animals meet international quarantine standards for import or export.

Provision of reagents

Our range of reagents for purchase are suitable for veterinary diagnostic assays including serology, molecular biology and bacteriology.

Acoustic testing

We provide a range of services to help improve the acoustic environment in buildings, optimise the acoustic behaviour of products and certify acoustic performance.

X-Ray Fluorescence

We provide specialised X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) services including a range of sample preparation facilities and the analysis of a wide variety of sample types including soils, minerals, rocks, ores, industrial products, chemicals, and plants.
