A new model for Latin America
As Australia’s National Science Agency, we connect global partners with Australian research and innovation to help solve shared problems.
In 2011, Fundación CSIRO Chile Research was created in response to the Chilean Government’s call for international centres of excellence to establish a branch in the country, particularly in the mining and minerals research area. Since then, Fundación CSIRO Chile Research has provided research services to mining companies, government agencies and universities.
Having successfully built lasting relationships in the region, CSIRO has changed its operating model in Latin America with research now delivered in partnership with our researchers in Australia, rather than a central team in Chile.
We will continue to focus on cultivating deep international collaboration and building R&D capacity across priority sectors.
